Congress More Religious than General Public

The 116th Congress is the most diverse class in history, with more gender and racial diversity than ever before. Still by most counts, Congress does not paint an accurate picture of the U.S. at large. On religious grounds, a recent analysis by Pew Research shows how certain religious groups are over represented, while unaffiliated people are greatly underrepresented.

Within the general U.S. population, around seven in ten adults are Christian, while in Congress that figure is closer to nine out of ten adults.
