A World Without People

I loved this piece from the Atlantic entitled, A World Without People, by Alan Taylor. Taylor has assembled a collection of photos from, “abandoned construction projects, industrial disaster zones, blighted urban neighborhoods, towns where residents left to escape violence or natural disasters, derelict Olympic venues, ghost towns, and more” to help us imagine what the world would look like if there are no people. I found the collection haunting and a not so subtle reminder that our collective identity is expressed not only by what we do while we are alive, but also in what we leave behind. What will a new civilization of humans say about us if they discover the scenes that unfold in these photos 500 years from now?
